Most people don't think about how a website gets made. They just know they need one. So here's what actually happens when you reach out to me and say "I need a site."
It starts with research
Before I write a single line of code, I look up everything I can about your business. Google listing, Facebook page, reviews, photos, hours, menu — whatever's out there. I want to understand what you do, how you talk about it, and what your customers already see when they search for you.
This is the part most people skip. They jump straight into a template and start filling in blanks. I don't use templates. Every site starts from zero.
The tech behind it
Every site I build is hand-coded HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. That's it. No WordPress. No Wix. No Squarespace. No page builders.
What does that mean for you? A few things:
- Speed. There's no bloated platform slowing things down. Your site loads fast because there's nothing unnecessary in the code.
- No monthly fees. WordPress needs hosting. Wix needs a subscription. Squarespace charges you every month. A hand-coded site hosted on Cloudflare costs nothing to keep online.
- You own it. The code is yours. You're not locked into a platform that can raise prices or shut down.
Speaking of Cloudflare — that's where your site lives. Cloudflare runs one of the largest networks in the world. They have servers everywhere. When someone in Greene pulls up your site, it loads from the closest server to them. That's why it's fast. And hosting on Cloudflare Pages is free.
The build
Once I know what your business needs, I start building. Every section is written by hand. The layout. The colors. The typography. The animations. The mobile version. All of it.
A typical site has a hero section, an about section, services, gallery, hours, and contact info. Some clients want more — a full menu page, an events section, team bios. Some want less. It depends on the business.
The whole thing is usually done in 48 hours. Sometimes same day, if it's a smaller build.

You get a live website on a real domain. Not a preview. Not a draft. A working site that loads on every phone, tablet, and desktop browser.

Why any of this matters

If they find nothing, they move on. If they find a half-finished Wix site from 2018 with a stock photo and broken links, they move on faster.
A clean, fast, professional website doesn't guarantee customers. But not having one almost guarantees you're losing some. The bar is low — most local businesses either have no site or a bad one. A good site puts you ahead of the majority without spending thousands.
